The personal journey behind Hindifilmography and its evolution into Cala Caari Cinema.

The Roots of a Passion

Some passions don't begin with a plan—they simply become a part of who you are. For me, that passion has always been Hindi cinema. Growing up, Sunday afternoons meant watching movies on Doordarshan with my family. While everyone else was immersed in the story, I found myself equally fascinated by the people who brought those stories to life. I would constantly ask my mother and elder sister, "Who is this actor?", "Who directed this film?", or "What other films has he made?" Looking back, I realise those simple conversations were my first lessons in the history of Indian cinema. Even as a child, I loved retelling films to my friends and relatives. I wasn't just narrating the plot—I was reliving every scene, every performance and every emotion that had stayed with me long after the film had ended.

Exploring the Golden Era

As I grew older, that curiosity only deepened. During my college years, I eagerly waited every month for the latest editions of Filmfare, Stardust, and Cine Blitz. While many looked forward to the latest celebrity interviews and gossip, I found myself drawn to the retro pages. The rare black-and-white photographs, untold stories, and forgotten memories of legendary actors and filmmakers opened a new world for me. They inspired me to explore the Golden Era of Hindi cinema in greater depth. Soon, collecting biographies and autobiographies of cinema legends became more than a hobby—it became a lifelong passion.

From Pathology to Preservation

Professionally, I chose a different path and built my career as a Pathologist. Yet, no matter where life took me, cinema was always a constant companion. Then came the COVID-19 pandemic. Like many others, I found myself reflecting on the things that truly mattered to me. It was during this time that I finally decided to give shape to a dream I had carried for years. I created Hindifilmography, an Instagram platform dedicated to documenting and celebrating the rich legacy of Hindi cinema. What started as a passion project soon grew into a community of film lovers, artists, historians, and members of the film fraternity. Through carefully researched stories, rare photographs, and forgotten cinematic moments, Hindifilmography became my humble attempt to preserve a cultural heritage that deserves to be remembered and celebrated.

A New Chapter with Cala Caari

Today, that journey enters a new chapter. Through Cala Caari Cinema, I want to transform my love for cinema into something tangible—something people can collect, display, wear, and cherish. From original canvas paintings and fine art prints to premium posters, apparel, and thoughtfully designed collectibles, every creation is inspired by the films, artists, and memories that have shaped generations of Indian cinema. My intention is not simply to recreate iconic images, but to capture the emotions, artistry, and nostalgia that make these stories timeless. For me, Cala Caari Cinema is not just a business venture. It is the natural extension of a passion that has quietly grown with me since childhood. It is my tribute to the artists who created unforgettable stories, to the audiences who continue to keep those stories alive, and to a cinematic heritage that deserves to be preserved for generations to come. If Hindifilmography was about telling the stories of Indian cinema, Cala Caari Cinema is about giving those stories a place in our everyday lives.
